Lotrisone For Sale Propecia Generic Buy Inderal Online Amoxil Without Prescription Prevacid No Prescription Zyban For Sale Clarinex Generic Buy Zyban Online Lipitor Without Prescription Neurontin No PrescriptionI have been working closely with the Patent Facilitating Cell (PFC) at TIFAC (Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, since it’s early days and I commend them for the kind of solid work they have been doing at grass-root level.
One of their initiatives centres around encouraging women scientists to get trained in the area of intellectual property and build exciting careers in this field. To this end PFC administers a scholarship scheme for women having science qualifications for training in the area of patent searches, understanding of patent specification and preparation of technology scan report. The scheme was launched in 2002 and has been quite successful in attracting the right talent.
Some of the key objectives behind this scheme include
- Training talented and skilled women who have studied science, engineering and medicine in patent searches and other aspects of intellectual property rights enabling them to seek specialized employment or be self employed
- Developing a core of professionals for preparing specialized reports such as technology scan based on patent information
- Developing a pool of resource persons in intellectual property rights for conducting workshops on IPR
The selection process for candidates to avail this scholarship is rigorous and includes a written test and interview.
I was invited to be a part of the interview board for selection of candidates for this year’s batch, interviews for which were conducted on March 29 and 30th 2008 at Delhi, Chennai, and Pune. It was a pleasure to be associated with this exercise. The Delhi centre screened around 160 candidates during the interview. The candidates were from varied backgrounds that included medicine as well. But there were clearly a large majority from the biotechnology, botany, zoology and agriculture sciences. The training for the selected candidates would commence by end of April and has components of both class room and on-site training.
More details about this scheme can be found at http://www.tifac.org.in/news/advt9.htm

May i know what is the future prospect of Women Scientist after training of 1 year,is there any job surety?
Pooja,
I can confidently say that the job prospects for those undergoing this training is quite high. From the past batches, almost 100% are placed in full time employment.
The great thing about this training is that it includes a 6-9 months on the job internship component and the canditates are placed at different corporates, law firms, IP firms, Institutions for the internship. This is a great way to learn and adds value to their resume as well.
